This girl at school? She told me that gelatin is made from ground-up cow's feet and that every time you eat Jell-O there's some cow out there limping around without any feet. But I told her that I'm sure the cow is dead before they cut its feet off, right?

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Mostly lurking...

Cashmere, I'm glad you've been cleared and that things look okey dokey. Take it easy. Let us know if there's anything we can do.

So, I paged my therapist two hours ago. She called me back really quickly and we talked for just a minute, because she was about to go back into session. She gave me some "homework" to do and e-mail her, then she was going to call me after that session...an hour ago. She still hasn't called. I'm going to page again at 8. But, I'm getting all worked up in the meantime.

Now tagless for your comfort.

Christmas treet is my favorite typo of the season

Hee. That's what I should call those easy-bake toll-house cut-out cheating cookies I got at the store last week in case I needed them.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

Better than a Christmas teet.

What is even happening?

I suppose that depends.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Ok, question two, what would a reasonable hourly rate be? I have no idea what tutoring runs.

The tutoring I've done, I'll generally quote either $40 or $35 an hour, but in some cases I'll go down to $25. Most grad students I know who tutor charge something similar; undergrads mostly charge in the $20-$30 range.

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

Thanks on the tutoring advice.

The meeting went well. They took pages and pages of notes. In January we will go to their office to sign the paperwork for them to file.

C just grabbed the phone and has decided she is ready to call her dad regarding both Christmas and guardianship.... I gave her lots of hugs before she disappeared upstairs. I think I'm more nervous for her now that I was pre-meeting.

Hey. New board.

Ok, question two, what would a reasonable hourly rate be? I have no idea what tutoring runs.

I get paid $30 an hour, but my clients actually pay my agent something more like $65-75 an hour. The agency then pays me. It's a bit of a shaft, but at the same time I'm too lazy to find my own clients. This is also in NYC, where all things are expensive. Gershwin Girl actually has connections in Westchester (VERY nice suburb), and gets paid $130 an hour (!!) to tutor kids there.

All beside the point. As already said, your best bet is definitely to check with universities. $30 an hour is a reasonable expectation, you could probably get $25 from most undergrads, especially if you take K-Bug to them rather than them coming to you.

See if UC Berkeley has a Career Center or some such. Those often keep tutor lists - Caltech's did, though I never used it myself. They'll send your info to a mailing list, and you'll have poor, desperate undergrads fighting over your tutoring position.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

((C)) ((MG)) I hope the conversation goes well.

I am tasking myself with accomplishing enough things tonight so that my only goal tomorrow will be to go and see my grandma. I've just been in such a bad place that I haven't gone there and I feel like shit over it. Turns out the lung cancer (oh, and it is definitely cancer and started in her lungs) started all of this malignancy. And it will eventually kill her. I need to talk with my stepmom to get all of the details but that can wait until tomorrow. So I am plodding through Christmas shopping online and making my shopping list for my stepmom's birthday dinner on Friday so I can go see grandma tomorrow.

That was a little more of a vent than I meant to post.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Oof. What a tough year you've had, Cass.

Are you holding it together?
