I agree with ita, vw. I understand how you feel, but you're really fine.
BTW, I just caught up and saw that you'd been having a really difficult couple of days. I'm so sorry I haven't been around to help you.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Thanks. It's totally cool. You've had your share of rough days yourself!
It would vary on how good a friend. I might bring a wee bouquet of flowers or a bottle of wine or some other tiny hostess gift for a good but not superclose friend. For a really good friend who said no worries, just bring you.
If she said bring nothing, then you are totally within etiquette just showing up. And when I say bring nothing, I mean it.
My default is a bottle of Processo or something sparkly with a pretty ribbon - it's usually just something nice for them to have later, not for dinner itself. Well, it's my default when I remember to have one about. And when I have ribbon.
Spending as much $$ on an outfit for a doll as I balk at spending on Em is MAD, correct?
American Girl doll?
How'd ya guess, Hil?
And a Bitty Baby, at that!!
Ok! I'm off! Thanks, guys!
The office I'm organizing keeps getting catalogues for this company, which creeps me all the way out with their 'most like me' dolls. You can custom order a copy of your kid...and then dress them alike.
I'm not sure why, but that just seems all manner of weird.
See, that shit makes me think of VC Andrew's Heaven Series. Ick.
I think little girls like miniature versins of themselves because they can dress the dolls up in whatever they choose and control what they do, since they ususally don't get to control those things for themselves. Also kids have a lot of self-centeredness and having another you is tempting on that score too.
Going empty handed to a dear friend's house for dinner is fine. I've certainly done so. If I have time I'll pick up flowers or wine from the grocery store. If I have more time I'll bring a itty bitty personal gift like a pretty bookmark. When I'm rushed, as usual, I bring hugs.
Gut~ma
We just opened a new library (haven't even been there yet) and I tend to think of my fines as my contribution to the building fund. Speaking of which I have stuff overdue.
