If overdue books are the worst thing that people think about you, you're doing okay. I wish I could say that about myself.
Like Nora said -- it's something you care about. Don't worry about projecting that onto everyone else.
Buffy ,'Empty Places'
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

I just view overdue library books as an opportunity to donate to the library.
ita, how did the krav people react to your PT's call?
I work at a libray. We only care about overdue books if a) you refuse to pay the fine b) lots of people are waiting for them.
signed,
spends 5 out of 7 days at the library and always has overdue books.
One of them is microfiche. As soon as we get a copy card, I'm gonna go print that out. Then, tomorrow I'll meet with the leads on the project and see what needs to be copied. I'll be in longer tomorrow, so I'll be able to sit at the copy machine and take care of what we need.
These little things are how I know I'm really not doing well. I'd been much better about dealing with this kind of stuff. I'll get better again, but cleaning up the mess is always a challenge when you're not at top speed.
My sympathies, vw, because this:
cleaning up the mess is always a challenge when you're not at top speed.
is absolutely true. I know we can't return your books for you, but if there's anything else we can do (venting, handholding, threatening goons....) just ask.
The Pink Roomba is on sale at the website! Free shipping, too! Whoot!
Ok. Just scheduled the meeting with the project lead to go over the books. So, that's set up for tomorrow. Little steps in the right direction.
I'm off to copy microfilm and fiche. Wish I would have brought my iPod!
Betsy, as far as I know, word hasn't gotten to anyone with pull. I have a little knot in the pit of my stomach (because he has access to more influential people), but I intend to ride this out with both insouciance and determination.
Although, all of the overdue library books are just sitting on my desk for the whole world to see and know that I fucked up. Ugh.
vw, I once had books out from my uni's library for so long that they charged my school account with the business office for replacing them - then when I finally brought them back, credited my account. They were so happy to see those books, they didn't even fine me. Not that I recommend this to you. If anyone gives you any grief (above the late fee) blame the asthma for depriving your brain of oxygen.
Do me a favor, please. Don't say anything to yourself about this that is harsher than what you would say to a beloved friend if it had been their mistake. You would never dream of being so mean to Emily as you are to yourself.
