Spike's Bitches 28: For the Safety of Puppies...and Christmas!
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Y'all are guilting me into turning off the A/C and opening the windows.
I might be able to do this today. Sure, we're expecting thunderstorms later, but I like those, too.
Well, I had my first phone interview today. They want someone who can do all kinds of desktop publishing (which I can), all kinds of web content management (which I currently do), writing and PR (which I have done, and could do again), and high level database programing (which I have never done). All for a small medical subspecialty, using lots of medical terminology (with which I am comfortable, given that my current job involves this). And all for about 10K less than I'm making now, once bennies and such are factored in.
I wish them the best of luck in filling this position.
But hey, at least someone finally gave me an interview! The long blinivisibility curse seems to be gone. Yay!
ETA: I now send any left-over ~ma in my vicinity toward Juliana for her interview. Go Juliana!
Interviews are worthwhile--if just for the practice. Calli, I hope the streak continues.
Owen's with the sitter this morning. No separation anxiety--yet (for him, anyway. Maybe some for me). His friend Ethan was already there so they both headed for the toy bin without looking back at me. We'll see how he does for a whole day. I hope he has fun.
Interview ~ma to them that needs.
DH's job just gave him a beat-up van for commuting back and forth to work so they don't have to pay his mileage. Eventually he will get a nice work truck, once he is trained, and our house will be "Point A" for travel purposes. I guess that means he is entitled to mileage from home even now, during training.
Not talking about utility bills. Just not.
A work vehicle provided is a good thing.

I may not have gas or oil bills but oh my do I gasp each month when I see what I need to pay to FPL. Ouch!
My gas bill is up 75% over last year. We pay year-round, so the pain is spread out, but this year it's just all pain all the time.

And, sadly, the electric bill hasn't gone down as much as it normally does in the winter to compensate for it. Pfeh.
Calli, I'm glad you're unblinvisible, now.

This is good. I'm glad for Owen. May this continue to just be a fun new thing for him. The first few times I dropped Ben off at pre-school (he was a lot older than O--three and a half) I thought I was going to be sick. I had much more separation anxiety than he did. His came later on, and then again at kindergarten, but it was never bad to the point where I felt badly dropping him off. I think Julia and Chris had it a little worse (but even then, not bad).
My theory was that the first child, being a default only child for however long that lasts, has some extra security while he remains the only child, and even after those usurpers come along, he keeps some of it, because a little part of him is always king of the world.
Sean, I am very impressed by your new culinary skills.
I know this will shock everyone, but I don't want to go to work today. I haven't been able to find another job yet, so here I go.
