My gas bill is up 75% over last year. We pay year-round, so the pain is spread out, but this year it's just all pain all the time.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

My gas bill is up 75% over last year.

And, sadly, the electric bill hasn't gone down as much as it normally does in the winter to compensate for it. Pfeh.

What is even happening?

Calli, I'm glad you're unblinvisible, now.

Owen's with the sitter this morning. No separation anxiety--yet (for him, anyway. Maybe some for me). His friend Ethan was already there so they both headed for the toy bin without looking back at me. We'll see how he does for a whole day. I hope he has fun.

This is good. I'm glad for Owen. May this continue to just be a fun new thing for him. The first few times I dropped Ben off at pre-school (he was a lot older than O--three and a half) I thought I was going to be sick. I had much more separation anxiety than he did. His came later on, and then again at kindergarten, but it was never bad to the point where I felt badly dropping him off. I think Julia and Chris had it a little worse (but even then, not bad).

My theory was that the first child, being a default only child for however long that lasts, has some extra security while he remains the only child, and even after those usurpers come along, he keeps some of it, because a little part of him is always king of the world.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Sean, I am very impressed by your new culinary skills.

I know this will shock everyone, but I don't want to go to work today. I haven't been able to find another job yet, so here I go.

NORA'S HOME!!!!

Hi all! I'm feeling better this morning, and watching a silly romantic comedy.

This afternoon I majorly attack the incomplete while drinking tea with a friend who also has an incomplete. What could be more perfect?
