[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

What is even happening?

Didn't we have some sort of "No cancer in '06" vote? I thought that passed?

If not I second it, and will gladly create as many sock puppets as needed to third, fourth, and fifth it, and pass it, social capital be darned to all heck.

Well, you know Bureau. Some of the people are still upset we didn't call it "Cancer: GET OUT, GET OUT GET OUT!!"

It coulda been a contender, but it split its vote with "Bureaucracy: Like an aneurism, with even less funny" and they both lost.

First all the good parking spaces, now all the dark humor.

oi.YES! My friend's mom was just diagnosed with late stage lung cancer. The doctors are saying she has maybe a year. And my friend and his girlfriend are expecting a baby this summer. I hope really of course that she beats it and lives many happy years but if that isn't to be that she is at least here to enjoy her grandson for a while.

Cass, that was so sweet of your ex. It's nice to know you have a great support system in such a hard time. I hope your grandmother's remaining days are as peaceful and painless as possible.

On a completely frivolous note, I'm for car racing fans (Cass & Trudy, right??) to help me write a song. I know nothing about racing or any racers other than the most famous but I did once bartend for a day at my old grad school hangout so the bar's employees could watch the Indy 500. And my band has worked up a song that seems very car race-y to me so I want to write about it. I'm thinking that the chorus is going to be sort of me calling the race. So I need some good driver names and also some phrases the announcers would use during a race.

Lisah, as luck would have it Miss Cass and I have been batting such comments back and forth for some time. I'm trying to remember the one about 'cooking the corner and making it a straightaway like zinardi' and sometimes you go high, sometimes you go low, sometimes you go over _____'s nose".

Is it specifically Indy or specifically Champ Car? People really, really care so you'll probably need to pick one.

um...I don't even know the difference. The main thing I wanted to get in there was what the coke dealer bar manager Fred said about the race which was that they had to "Go fast, turn left." (Fred got me to work Indy 500 day by asking me if I ever had tended bar and when I said "No" said "Well you wanna work this Sunday?")

other than that I don't care. I'll sing whatever sounds good. And, since you guys would be my technical consultants, whatever would make you & Cass the happiest!
