I think that with our tax returns, we should be able to check off tickyboxes as to where we want our taxes to go - and actually have the $$ go there. It might make people feel a leetle bit better about the tax-jack we get.
I've been saying this for YEARS. I think if people were allowed to do that, it would send a clear message to the government about what the peoples' actual values are.

It's issued separately from his monthly wages, so there's no pre-tax deductions taken out of it (e.g. health insurance, retirement). I think they withhold close to 40% of it. I may not be mathy, but I know we're not in that tax bracket.

I don't actually trust the people's values enough for that.
But, then, I'm living in a state that's been occasionally gutted by the initiative process, and am wary with cause.
I'm too afraid of the people whose values are "I shouldn't have to pay property taxes because my kids don't go to the public schools".

No. I'll get none of it back at tax time. The feds are already taking money out of my paycheck for college loans, and they've been huffing up my tax returns for a long time now.Oh. Sorry for the long delayed xpost up there. I started the post, hung a pair of curtains, then submitted the post.
Hec, this may sound goofy, but is there any way you can learn where that bracket border is and work OT only up to that point and no further?
