"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

The day I moved to San Francisco, a multi-year drought ended. It rained for something like 20 days in a row, setting a new record.

You fucker! I loved that drought. Thanks a lot, The Honorable Mr. Drizzle (fo shizzle), DDS, Esq.

And a crying Hecubot.

Eh. She's all talk. She'd never break up a devout Catholic's marriage.

What is even happening?

"The fact that they looked it up in a book just shows that they don't get the idea of truthiness at all," Colbert said Thursday. "You don't look up truthiness in a book, you look it up in your gut."
Oh I t heart this.

And to make it all Buffista related, I interviewed Michael Adams about Slayer Slang, the book erinaceous edited for OUP.

This is one of those referential-loop days. I don't know if I can explain what I mean by that, but I just referred (without an outright reference) to Slayer Slang, in an LJ entry I may or may not actually publish. I left it marked "private" while I think about it for a while. It's about fandom, and I was prompted to write it in response to an article by willa at Popgurls, but it ended up being about when I consider myself in fandom, and a lot of the subtext has to do with a conversation I saw at this board, but didn't bother entering.

"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

AMYCH! I need a proper-sounding Frenchish last name for J'onn, who is now Jean, tall and imposing and strikingly bald with deep olive skin and russet brown eyes.

Hello? He should obviously be Jean Valjean! Two four six oh one!

I just paid someone to pop my back. Seems like an odd idea, but I can't say it didn't work. Nice guy, even though he asked me to "smile" when he first came in the room.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Nice guy, even though he asked me to "smile" when he first came in the room.

Oh! Can you imagine that one of the students told me I was getting nicer (apparently it'd been a topic of discussion). What was she thinking? They're going to pay for weeks, at the very least. Nice krav instructors. What next?

From what I hear, it's doing better than the middle part of the country. Where are you?

sarameg - Jan 13, 2006 9:49:39 am PST #9713 of 10002

What was she thinking?

Obviously not!

You all nicely vacationed, msbelle?

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

one of the students told me I was getting nicer

That poor, poor, misguided child.
