Lori, I told my kids in about you and the robot arm in the Science Fiction Museum in Seattle. They thought you were the coolest person ever.

Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
ita, it was in the magazine section of the paper, and we will save it for you. Can't find it online. Maybe we could drop it off tonight on our way to LAX, or maybe you get it in a week. Either way, it had info on restaurants to go to get lots of different goat dishes.
Aww, thanks, Betsy.
If dropping by is convenient, that'd be great. I don't plan on leaving the house again today. Otherwise, no worries! Thanks so much.
lori's a good cool card to toss out. "Yeah, but MARS," is hard to follow.
Huh -- has it been mentioned here that evidently author JT Leroy is a woman, but that 'he' has also been portrayed in public by another woman?
"Yeah, but MARS,"
IT IS! But there's also something really humbling when your own (or in this case my) mother says, "Wow! She's so much smarter than you are."

I'm already the dumb one in my family.
But would your mother ever say that? Or admit that your partner is smarter than you to your face in such a franky way.

I think we talked about the hoax being revealed. I'm (a) not entirely surprised since there was a fanciful element in the writing that didn't jibe entirely with the gritty backstory and (b) not upset, since I like the writing anyway and had nothing invested in the authenticity of the writer.

I've never read anything by J. T. Leroy, but I did read the New York Magazine expose that put forward the theory that he was not who he said he was. Which seems to be a fair amount of the basis for that article.
Never having heard of him before the NY Magazine article, I read a basic description of this character, and immediately said to myself, "This isn't a person, it's an OTT character." And, I guess, that ended up being the article's point.
