"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

Huh -- has it been mentioned here that evidently author JT Leroy is a woman, but that 'he' has also been portrayed in public by another woman?

I've never read anything by J. T. Leroy, but I did read the New York Magazine expose that put forward the theory that he was not who he said he was. Which seems to be a fair amount of the basis for that article.

Never having heard of him before the NY Magazine article, I read a basic description of this character, and immediately said to myself, "This isn't a person, it's an OTT character." And, I guess, that ended up being the article's point.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

But would your mother ever say that?

The mother that's told me how ugly I was? It's come up.

And lord knows she wants me with someone smarter and more capable than myself. Also more entrepreneural, level-headed, successful and focussed.

She's clear on where my failings lie, and isn't shy about it.

Bahahahaha. yeah. I forgot, your mother is another thing entirely from my mother.

The LA Times article mentioned a Jamaican place with the goat. Or a Jamaican chef. I should go look and see what it said.

A Jamaican place I haven't been to? Oh! I need to a) redouble my exploration of Jamaican places in LA and b) get off my ass and do my own Jamaican cooking.

I just had confirmation that the Roscoe's on La Brea has mac and cheese, so if I can find a Jamaican place I like closer than Pasadena, that'll leave, what, the Container Store out there for me?

But the Container Store is a Very Big Thing. You don't like the Jamaican place on Olympic and 14th?

I haven't yet smoked the Container Store crack, though I've maybe hotboxed. Which I'm pretty sure you can't do with crack, but fuck that, I'm hungry and can't think straight.

The Jamaican place on 14th (& Broadway) is erratic in its hours (so is the one in Pasadena) and their curry goat is disappointing. I need somewhere better.

Our wings are not tired.

DH has his money on Pgh in the office pool. Woo Hoo! $10 riding on this. (I passed on the pool because I didn't care)

"Wow! She's so much smarter than you are."

Piffle. Such a different (and clearly complimentary) skillset that you can't be compared that way.
