The landline phone system has multiple redundancies built into it, but lots of cell systems do not. If, for instance, the Central Austin cell tower system were suddenly overloaded and a few towers fail at the same time, a few calls could still get through some of the outlying collocated switches, but most calls would probably never get to a switch. I'm sure larger cities have more redundancy built in, though.

Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Huh. Didn't know that. My mom has the cel, not me, though.
I know lots and lots of boring facts about the phone system. I'm very useful in ending conversations or parties.
Signed,

Case in point.
I wouldn't worry. You can still get your important messages out by USPS, right?
I know lots and lots of boring facts about the phone system. I'm very useful in ending conversations or parties.
I do that with boring facts about the electric system.
I'd high-five you, but haven't yet filled out the appropriate HFR (High-Five Request) form.
Sheesh, someone is going to have to go over to ita's and act out the internets in mime or something should the actual thing fail.
Me, I figure out whether it is dire (go help organize humanitarian looting and redistribution of contents the nearby Giant and Safeway) or just annoying (go read one of my kajillion books.)

The pay is good. Well, average.
OK, OK ... nearly average. In some regions. You should come on board."
I am ready to leave y'all. I'm going up to the bar for drinks after work. I will take notes on its diviness. 3 memos before I go.
1) Dear Ex-other office girl,
You were at the same meeting I was. Everyone else heard what you heard. You were the only one who couldn't follow directions. Do not fuck with my boss. You screwed up.
2) Dear co-workers,
Bless you for working so hard on this thing for me. This is my first big project, and while I look like I have things down because I have a schedule and agenda and shit, I only have all that stuff because I'm terrified it's going to all spin out of control and it'll be on my head. Thanks for pitching in with ideas and volunteering and stuff. Y'all rock.
3) Dear client,
No. I will not give you the number of every AE we work with. No. I will not give you the number of every Bank in the known universe, nor will I tell you the interest rate every day. I am not 411, I am not your Yahoo personalized homepage.
