I'm sorry, I shuld have said Best Thai (I Have) Ever (Had): Thai Express, Cincinnati. I have never been to Chicago, Vancouver, or Thailand. (Okay, I have been to Chicago, but never eaten Thai food there).
It's really pretty good, especially for a storefront that is just two huge woks with propane tanks underneath, and a couple of women with big whisks. Ambiance, no. Worth driving an hour for, yes.
Anyway, we ended up getting felafel, and it was just okay, and I wished I was at Thai Express.

Best thai I ever had was rearn thai. But then, it's one of three or four places I've had thai....
I really really really need to start christmas shopping. I really really really don't want to. No magic in my heart.
I did that today! Of course I only bought presents for people I wanted to, and absolutely none for the people I need to buy presents for (ie family).
I'm just in a curmudgeonly mood when it comes to christmas. I think brought on partly by knowing it is going to be a stuff heavy one courtesy of the in laws. It makes it feel perfunctory, not fun. I need to get over it. And get some ideas.
Best Thai food I've had is Amarind, in Chicago (across the street from Oak Park)--the chef there had trained at Arun's downtown (highest rated Thai restaurant in the country) for nine years, and now cooks meals that cost under $10 per plate, instead of $80. Best mung bean custard I've ever had!

Me too, sarameg, except for the stuff heavy part. That's why I spent today buying things for people I wanted to give presents, rather than people I have to exchange gifts with. It made me feel much better.
I think I may have to do that. I just wish I was crafty, but sadly, I'm not. I just have to come up with a good concept. One year, I just got everyone unique kaleidescopes, and enclosed a letter with each. That was fun.
Hec, dude! Book. Is. A. Hit! No less than 5 people hve told me "I must have this!" Those weren't even the people I was pimping to.
