Now I have Yellow Rose of Texas in my head since that it my default Texas song. Well, that and the screeew you, we're from Texas one that makes me laugh every time but YR is more persistant. Which is annoying because I only know the "yellow rose of texas" part. At least the screw you song basically only has that one line. I think.
Random trivia: at my grandfather's funeral, that was the ONE song that had to be played (there may have been hymns, but I don't recall those.) Because it was his absolute favorite song and he insisted. He was neither from Texas or had any particular attachment to roses. No one has any idea how it became his favorite. He was a Minnesota farmer from Iowa!
I have to get into work early tomorrow since I am leaving at 4:30 to go pick up my dad from the airport. Huhn.
BUT! I told him we didn't have any Crab Nebula posters but I kinda LIED because we don't, really, but my friend printed out two 3'x3' images on the fancyschmancy image printer and they are GORGEOUS. Better than your standard quality poster. I'll give him both (give one to Apache Point Observatory or as a thesis present or whatever.) But man, must milk this in I have. Plus I grabbed some of the mass produced posters of the Eagle Nebula, Whirlpool and ... M82, I think. He can keep those or pass them onto my mom.
I hate my job, but the stuff the place does is really cool.

Yup. Ironically, the cite that sealed the deal was Texan. Austin, even.
Surprisingly—for us city folks at least—cows (that is, mature female cattle) can have horns! In fact, there are several cattle breeds in which the cows have horns. To name just a few: the Danish Red, the White Park, and the Texas Longhorn.
Having horns works both ways; that is, cattle without horns can be bulls. The Angus and the Red Poll are examples of breeds that are hornless, be they cow or be they bull!
He was all "udders mean no horns!" I hate when people make me question something I'm sure I know. Thank dog for google.

Oh, I have to find out when the Science Center is showing that. And find my work ID so I can get in extra cheap. Plus, I need to go play in the kids' workshopthingy again. I love the ball rollercoaster maze doohicky. And I can spend far too much time dorking out with the gyro-in-a-suitcase, staggering around the room.
