Spike: At least give me Wesley's office since he's gone. Angel: He's not gone. He's on a leave of absence. Spike: Yeah, right. Boo-hoo. Thought he killed his bloody father. Try staking your mother when she's coming on to you! Harmony: Well…that explains a lot.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

And...the pies are still in my trunk. Found my mother, who was too lazy to get my father off the beach, so I'll have to call his cell separately.

After I get the pies and start the coffee.

Happy Returns of the Day and the Season, all.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Today, I have shot my friends' cat (they're out of town, the cat is diabetic)

Note to self, read entire sentence.

The post office drama, for those who have been following, has come to a close! I take back everything bad I said about them yesterday, because the mailman just came by to deliver a package. On a Sunday. Which is also Christmas.

It wasn't my Buffista Secret Santa gift, as I'd assumed, but a present from my grandparents who own an antiquarian bookshop. They got me a 1942 Boston Cooking School Cookbook, which is perfect. It's not a first edition, obviously, but it's in near-perfect condition, and I love it so so so so much. (I collect old cookbooks, and this one's hard to find in good condition. The reprints, yes, but not old ones like this.)

So anyway, that's my happy Christmas story. I hope that all Buffistas are having as wonderful a day!

What is even happening?

Oh my word. Yes, Jessica, there is a Santa Claus.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Hooray for beyond-the-call-of-duty mailmen! That sounds wonderful.

We are slounging, and may at some point get dressed. Have talked to both families (who called within seconds of each other. I think they plan these things.) My major accomplishment of the morning: taking the roast out of fridge so that it can reach room temperature. FEAR ME.

Happy Chrismukkah, all!

(I mean, this being New York, chances are good that he's not Christian, but still. Wow.)

(The mailman, not Santa Claus. Who probably is Christian.)

I suspect it would still be his day off, if he were inclined to take it!

In a more or less pagan way, yeah.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Last year I got a Christmas Day delivery from a postal worker, and was suitably gobsmacked. She cheerily told me she was getting double or triple pay (it was a year ago, I don't remember) and didn't seem the least bit put out.

The lines are tied up to Jamaica, so can't get through to Daddy. Will sip coffee instead.

Perkins--I can grab you some pies if you want. I wasn't thinking yesterday.

He's Christian now. Like the tree.

I also must squee a little about the card that came with the gift, which is a Christmas card (lovely -- white with a three-tree cutout design) with "Happy Hannukah!" handwritten across the front. On the back, my grandparents added "PS- Sorry for the mixed messages."

They're so cute.

They are very cute. Can I adopt your grandparents? I'm clean out.
