If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Does anyone know if Jesse's tv appearance on Isaac the one tonight?

Oh no, when is that on? I meant to Tivo.

Although, with Brokeback, it could now be correlated pornily, as well.

Girding your loins would be roughly equivalent. In meaning as well as opportunity to be twelve.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

We use "butch it up" at krav. Almost always as "Butch it up, man, butch it up."

I know I've heard "cowboy up" on COPS, but I figured that was just them doing the macho thing for the cameras.

It's Isaac, Beth. But I'm being presented with a lot of options:

  • Actor/director Jon Favreau; Kathy Ireland; chef Tony Tammero (Thu 12/15 12:00 PM)
  • Reality-TV celebrities Rob Mariano and Amber Brkich; actress Sarah Wayne Callies; fitness instructor Brooke Siler (Thu 12/15 8:00 PM)

Okay, just two, but overwhelming nonetheless.

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

"cowboy up!" has its origins in rodeo, from the cowboy climbing up on top of an animal for a bucking competition. I think it's one of those things officials say when it's time for the cowboy to get ready.

Well, this literal definition sounds like "batter up" as translated for people who don't play baseball. But the "be a grown-up, and if you have the ability, go ahead and spit to show your hauteur" thing, that is a meaning "batter up" does not have.

Good to know Kevin Millar did not just make it up, though. And also, because it does not refer directly to male anatomy ("sack up" is the annoying equivalent), it can be printed on t-shirts without shame.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Reality-TV celebrities Rob Mariano and Amber Brkich; actress Sarah Wayne Callies; fitness instructor Brooke Siler (Thu 12/15 8:00 PM)

This is the one you want. I'm shocked and appalled that I'm not listed by name. And a little confused that it's 8pm there, because I'm pretty sure it's 7pm here.

From having heard it in cop/military reference, for a while I thought "cowboy up" meant to strap on your six-shooter (or some extra weaponry) and go after the baddies, a la western movies. I like the less violent interpretation.

I'm pretty sure it's 7pm here.

When I went in to look at the episode detail, it changed its fickle little mind. TiVo online is on the case, and Jesse will be mine forever.

Thinking of going to watch the brown belt class today. To get my brain back into the space. Test is in just over a month, and I really want to take it, no matter how much pain I'm in.

I'm an idiot. But that's not news.

I get an e-mail from a coworker who's at our India facility telling me to call him to discuss the project any time after 7pm. I'm not quite sure why I'm the one working late, and he's not the one working early. I should win.

"Sack it up?" I'd use that too, but it requires a bit too much explanation.
