It's been awhile since I read about the origin of Sting's name, but I'll bet one of us is at least partly right.

He once performed wearing a black and yellow jersey with hooped stripes that fellow band member Gordon Solomon had noted made him look like a bumblebee, thus he became "Sting." He uses Sting almost exclusively, except on official documents.

You know, there's a reason I do like going to krav, even when I don't feel well. Because there's social contact. It makes me feel less like a caged freak.

Incompetent Design

No self-respecting engineering student would make the kinds of dumb mistakes that are built into us. All of our pelvises slope forward for convenient knuckle-dragging, like all the other great apes. And the only reason you stand erect is because of this incredible sharp bend at the base of your spine, which is either evolution's way of modifying something or else it's just a design that would flunk a first-year engineering student.

Just saw this, Perkins. We sail New Year's Eve and stop at about 10 islands, not all of which I can always remember.

But there'll be an island in the Bahamas, Tortola, St. Maarten, St. Kitts, St. Vincent, St. Lucia, Trinidad, Barbados, Bonaire, and Curacao. (Hey! I think I remembered them all!)

I insisted on that particular cruise because I fell in love with a picture of Curacao in the brochure. It didn't hurt that we both really liked St. Maarten when we stopped there on our last cruise.

Now, if we can just get past the winter storm warning that's up for tonight....

It's a pretty fine balance between feeling like crap at krav and feeling like crap at home. People help lift my mood, but it can be stressful. With 2-3 hours a week, I miss the people, but I can't really do more.

Not going out makes me feel delicate and broken and that doesn't help. I really want to go see a movie, for instance, but bright lights and loud noises, and so I haven't seen HP yet. Staying at home with nothing to do has a lot of potential for self pity. Which probably explains why I CSSed b.org.

ION, I love my local news. Dennis Rodman was apparently supposed to be on this morning, and the newscaster is all "we just got a call that Dennis just got back to his hotel room a half hour ago, from being out partying, so I guess he won't be here after all." No vague disclaimers there. And her voice and face - totally snitty.

Usually I hate local news, but this one channel they're just so goofy that it's fun to watch.

So, the pants I bought the other day tht were really almost black? Yeah, NSM. They're brown. Dark brown, but still. It must have been the weird store light tricking me. I guess I'm fine with that. I can still wear them with black shoes, right?
