My bonus is based on a performance plan that was set in March. Since part of it is sales, it won't be figured until mid- to late-Jan. I should get it in February.

Our bonus scheme used to be based on sales targets, which doesn't really motivate those of us in the development team.
Yeah, I remember trying to explain that to upper management in my last job--it sucks when your bonus is held hostage by other people with other priorities.

Yeah, I've never worked anywhere that gave regular bonuses. Or raises, actually. Ah, nonprofits. I have gotten both bonuses and raises a couple of times, but only under special circumstances. I honestly don't think I've ever gotten a regular COLA.
