GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

So I have a bit of a 1st world quandry. The last few months, I've had a severe bug up my butt to get an HDTV. (Particularly since my parents and my sister's family each have one and the difference is remarkable.) I kept telling myself I should wait until I buy a house and get settled before I get a new TV, because otherwise it's going to be longer to save up for said house and I'll have to move an extra TV when I do.

Still hasn't kept me from looking. Last night while I was out Christmas shopping I saw an out-of-box special for one of these [link] at the store. $899. In WI, which means tax is going to be cheaper than IL. (5.5% vs. 7% or so) The only thing that stopped from impulse-buying the thing was the fact that there was no way in hell it would fit in my car. I mentioned this to one of my co-workers and he volunteered his truck to pick it up if I really wanted it.

So now I'm trying to decide if I should take him up on his offer. Buying it would take a sizable chunk out of my savings, which as mentioned, is supposed to be going towards an eventual downpayment on a house. On the flipside, I feel like I've been saving forever with nothing to show for it and HDTV. $300 off!

And another part of me wonders if I wait until the new year rolls around if I might find a better deal and maybe I should just wait until Spring when I get my tax refund so only part of the cost has to come from savings.

Really stupid thing to be dwelling on, I know. I'm just curious if anyone has been paying a closer eye to the HDTV market and if this is worth it.

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

I need to print this out in ten-foot high flaming letters and post it above my desk at all times.

Ooh. I need to acquire a printer that prints in flames.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Years ago, if you got a certain type of undefined error in Unix, it'd display the error as "printer on fire" or somesuch.
