my exhausted, Turing-filled brain can't figure it out.
is this because you're crushing so hard on Turing that you can't focus on anything else? I hate that phase of a crush.
t /not helpful at all
(but then, trust me, you don't want my math help; that way lies disaster)
I talked to my brother last night and found out that they're getting married today in Cambridge at 4:30. They have rings and vows and everything, they're spending the night in a fancy hotel, and there'll be a party in the spring, with cake. So, yay!
Also, he was very baffled because he thought we'd
already
talked about it at some length a few days earlier. I'd called to check in on the imminent move to NYC, which I'd just heard about, and his first words to me were "So you heard the news?" and mine were "Yes, and I'm so excited for both of you!" and the conversation went on from there on two parallel but completely separate tracks. It was very entertaining, aside from the bilateral total cluelessness. But now it's all straightened out, they are properly congratulated for the proper big news, and I get a sweet and very handsome BIL at 1:30 my time. Plus, cake in a few months.
Still poor, but at least I have a rocking family.
I think it's a nice thing, but nicer if you're not trying to pretend that it's you remembering.
True -- as a recipient, I'd rather know about the service than not.
I just read a document created by my artistic director intended for stage management students to read to train them that contains so many abbrievaiations that my brain is spinning. There is the Production Manager (PM) the Production Stage Manager (PSM) the Props Master (PrM) the Assistant Props Master (AprM) the Assistant Production Manager (APM) the Assistant Stage Manager for Props (ASMPr). Then there is the Artistic Director (ArD), the Assistant Director (AD), the Assitant Wardrobe Coordinator (AWC), Audio Visual Engineer (AVI), the Assistant Stage Manager Costumes (ASMC)... and on and on
I think a lot of them are bullshit made up abbrevations. That would make me craxy.
Quick poll: Good idea or not?
I think it depends on the couple. I used to like getting flowers for unoccasions until I worked for a florist. Then I hated getting flowers, but only because I knew that the roses they were charging $60 for a dozen were being purchased wholesale for just over a quarter a piece.
Santa Terror!
JZ, I'm glad you have a sensible brother who thinks to tell you these things beforehand.
t raises eyebrow in my brother's direction
I just got really really hungry. So I'm eating lunch now.
This could backfire.
I have a fairly gross question for a boy person or someone who knows boy people:
If one goest to the bathroom and has to do number one AND number two does one tend to a) stand then sit; b) sit then stand; or c) sit for the entire production?
My apologies.
is this because you're crushing so hard on Turing that you can't focus on anything else?
I wish. This is because I was up till 3 trying to read his math and write about it coherently.
Trudy, my understanding is that the answer is usually C

Oh, I agree. A lot of them are bullshit made-up jobs too... I am fine with ASM and ME, it is just the other ones...
I emailed him to tell him that if we are intending documents for students to read in lieu of us actually, you know, talking to them, perhaps we should make the document readable...
