Lost 2: Tied to a Tree in a Jungle of Mystery
[NAFDA] This is where we talk about the show! Anything that's aired in the US (including promos) is fair game. No spoilers though -- if you post one by accident, an admin will delete it.
Remember that Claire had at least one kidnapping attempt from within the camp, plus they had her for how long -- IIRC two weeks? So there'd have been plenty of time and opportunity to gain intel.
After Jeremiah Crichton's comment about "That's an interesting theory" re: Ethan, I'm going to stay with the theory that there's more than one group of others out there until it's proven otherwise. It would explain why Claire got away - maybe one group freed her from the others.
I also wouldn't be surprised if one group was stealing children to save them from the other group. Maybe the pirate types aren't the infected ones, and they are trying to keep the kids from getting whatever it is, or vice-versa.
I got the feeling from Zeke that Ethan wasn't actually one of their group.
I don't think making Sun feel good is more important than Michael's life. I think Sun wasn't looking to feel good, as much as she was looking for Jin not to die. It's not like she wanted him to stay around because she needed help with the garden. She just got him back. She didn't want him risking his life, again.
Yeah, I saw it this way, too. Not to mention, there were three people going after Michael already (plus Kate, as far as the people on the beach knew); what more could Jin have done? I mean, I understand why he wanted to go, but I don't think Michael's life (or rescue) hinged upon whether or not Jin joined the search party, and I think both Jin and Sun knew that.
I was meh on the ep too, even though it supn some new mystery into the show.
Mostly, I was (and still am) bugged by how they all had magic electra-lite torches (or possbly a shitload of Bics) for when Zeke said LIGHT 'EM UP!
Also, I think Zeke was mostly anickname, but the look he gave Sawyer has me wondering at least a little if it was, in fact, his real name.
Also, I'm with Cindy on the Sun/Jin story. I can see why it would ping people gender-stereotype buttons, but I felt there was a different part of the story going on, which nullified that for me.
"When you came across the island, what side was the ocean on?"
Uh - all sides? I don't get the point of that question.
Right with you, sister. I mean, I got what you said in your eta section too, but still, I actually said, "All. It's an island," aloud, while watching
It's also a big island. Unless you are up high, you won't see both sides.
Lets say we think of the Losties as being on the North side of the island. We know to get to their camp the Tailies occasionally followed the shoreline, only inland. If the shoreline was on the left side of the party, they came up the west side of the Island. If the shoreline was on the right side of the group, they came up on the east side of the Island.
Since Locke was not with the group, he was asking in order to get an idea to compare Michael's current path with what the tailies had done.

At first I thought he was referring to Ethan, but after Zeke said "light 'em up" I decided that he was referring to Jack's remark about how there are a lot more Losties than there are Othersies.

It might be witches...

I think it was left ambiguous enough that it could be either. Which is OK by me.
Mostly, I'm sick of all the Jbackstory, so I'm hoping we've finally tapped out that particular vein (for this season, at least).

This is what I thought, too.

Any reason it can't be both?

Yeah.
The torch thing has bothered me from early on. You can't just light a handy stick and have that kind of light. Also, the Others have hung onto matches or lighters for this long?
