I look more rad than Lutheranism

The funeral thing was a tiny tiny box

No. Adult sized box, a man. Funeral announcement was in the paper.

Yes, a man, who killed himself, IIRC.

Never fall in love with somebody you actually love.

Oh. Why do I think it's a tiny box?

Answer: too much gin, probably.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

could the funeral have been Hurley's? It would make sense that it was unattended.

Why does that make sense? Everyone likes Hurley.

The question is obviously, why only six? Did they cut a deal to escape? What was the deal? Not tell anybody about the island? Why would they do that?

My current theory is that some people wanted to stay on the island, so the people who got off promised to not tell anyone there were other survivors and they somehow managed to keep the island hidden. I'm sure there are big holes in this theory, but that's what I'm starting with.

I thought you were referring to the size of the announcement, which did seem tiny.

Wasn't the funeral in an inner-city-type setting? Economically depressed, to use the lingo? Say after Hurley came back, spent some time in the psych. hospital, after he got out maybe his family didn't want anything to do with him because he was "crazy." And if he didn't really have his lottery fortune any more, he'd be living in a poor part of town. Maybe he was friendless because he avoided people because everywhere he looked, he saw Charlie, telling him to go back to the island.

Everyone likes Hurley NOW, but we don't know what happens in the future.

As for the other 5 Losties, and why they wouldn't have been at Hurley's funeral -- it looks like only Jack knew about it in time. Or perhaps the other 3 knew, but since we don't know who they are, they might not have been able to get to the funeral (if Sun and Jin, or Claire, went back home, for instance) and/or didn't want to go.

Our wings are not tired.

When asked about the departed one Jack said neither family nor friend. That indicated to me someone he didn't get along with on the island.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I note that Locke was a likely candidate to have no family or friends, and the one most likely to pine for the fjordsisland if he was cut off from it.
