We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

What's kind of scary is that a loss of 30 lbs isn't even noticeable on him. Yay for affording to eat healthy!

(I have coworkers who've met him around O'ahu: he's even larger in person.)

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

I think his face has trimmed some, but yeah, don't really notice any difference in the body.

Aha. The real translation of the hieroglyphics.

Snerk.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

I was channel surfing yesterday, and finally realized where I knew Clancy Brown from--he's "the hardest screw that ever walked a turn at Shawshank."

As for Jorge's weight loss, at the weight he's at, if he was female 30 pounds might be as much as half of a dress size. Not too apparent onscreen, but the belt should go in almost a notch.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Oh my, that's pretty clever.

Or at least, better than any "fan video" I could make!

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

So my flatmate and I have now watched Season 2 up to episode 9, with the whole Computer-conversation thingy. And I've read a chunk of the Old Thread and the first 500+ posts of this thread and then skipped ahead to say (1) I'm still loving the show, (2) I want fanfic and (3) does Naveen Andrews genuinely look like an Arab to Americans?

Because it's a bit of a nobrainer to flatmate and me - not just the fact that he's playing an Iraqi (which I can try to retcon), but the fact that people who don't know him describe him as 'An Arab guy'.

Our wings are not tired.

Can't steer you to the fanfic although I am certain there is plenty.

I accept that Sayid is Iraqi. My guess is that Naveen is of Indian descent, but I'm too lazy to google. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere he was British. Other than the unfortunate pairing with Shannon I like his character so I just accept the Iraqi thing. There are very few Arabs in my community so it doesn't jump out at me.

Ignorance is bliss?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I figure the minute I'd get stroppy about it, someone would link to a citation of the Indian-looking subpopulation of the Arab world, and that would be that.

I've done the parallel about Jamaica myself. I still think it makes sloppy casting either way.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

my friend's husband is Iraqi. I don't think Naveen looks Iraqi to me, but he is pretty and I want him on my tv.
