The Scott/Steve gag is really, really, really times infinity, really fucking old. And tired. And stupid. Scott DIED before Ana-Lucia even came on the scene, why the hell would that confusion infect her?
Unless it is actually some sort of symptom of being infected by island sickness, or something that ends up being a major plot point, jesus please- Just. Stop. With. The. Dumbass. Scott/Steve gag.
Other than that, a suprisingly interesting episode.

I was going to mention that. Maybe it's a sign she knows more than she lets on about the non-tailies.
When she said it, I went "hmmm."
Yeah, that made me roll my eyes. I suppose she could have been told his wrong name when she was first being introduced to everyone, but making it into a reasonable mistake requires more fanwanking than a one-line gag deserves.
Well, my crankiness with meta and (what I perceive) to be heavy-handed clumsy gags is well documented due to the final seasons of Buffy and Angel. So, I'm probably totally humorless and stuff but that exchange honestly had me never ever wanting to watch the show again.
I was so over the Scott/Steve thing so long ago. I think the writers aren't particularly graceful with these little squee look-aren't-I-clever moments, and I don't really think, in general, they work. Once is funny, and twice can be a cool continuity thing. But showhorning this in so awkwardly, unless, as DCJ points out, it means that Ana-Lucia knows something about Scott's death (which I doubt because the writers have so helpfully clued us into all the Tailies' actions and community backstory) really annoys me.
Obviously, I feel pretty strongly about it (and meta/jokey humor), and it pings a huge annoyance of mine, which I don't expect others to share, at least on this level. So, no need to apologize if you thought it was funny, glad to hear that it wasn't the universal tone-deaf thud that I heard.
yeah baybeee!
I meant to do that, of course.
The Scott/Steve gag is near the spot where I've fallen asleep, all three times I've tried to watch this episode. At this point, dh and I are working on the theory that there's some subliminal message in the dialogue that's hyponotizing me to sleep.
