Assuming that it was 100% applied (which I have stated is not the case), it would cross over into me accepting other people's preferences when I'm in their domains, with no onus on me to be in everyone's domain and certainly not simultaneously.
The fact that the rule only works in some scenarios and not others is why I think it's not a good rule. And why following that rule is therefore not a matter of ethics.

I may have mentioned, because I'm so fucking proud, that she's the first woman to play the Elf in the Santaland Diaries- so good for her, but bad timing. Are there any suggestions for cheapish, small presents for a tomboyish, snarky, tall, lanky, comedic actress?

I'm not that nice. She'll be missed, and I don't know if I could deal if I couldn't make it home. It's going to be strange because usually we're all there by the 22nd or so, which was our little brother's birthday. We have a party for him, and then we do Christmas Eve. I won't be there for the 22nd, and I'm sick about it. I can't imagine how she feels not being able to be there for either, but still doing this really awesome thing for her.
