Exactly, sj.
Natter 40: The Nice One
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Nice to see you round these parts, Herah!
HERAH!
I have no content, though.
The conversation comparing TDay to 4th of July pinged me. It was one of those rare moments when I realize that family traditions are sometimes just FAMILY. My parents got married on the 4th and for most of my life, they threw a HUGE block party on that day. My sister married on the same day so she could share their anniversary. The 4th was always a big deal in my family. Now that my parents are dead, the holiday no longer requires being with family, and I have to say I haven't adjusted.
Also, YAY for Alibelle's vehicular triumph. Forget about cat sitting, I want to know if she's available to babysit.
Wait, no, maybe:
Sue, that's about how I remember it, so I feel a little less out of touch. Just running one country behind, is all.
I'm sorry to hear about the cat woes, and the back woes. I'm relatively chipper, since my migraine of the day only just started -- witnesses can attest this is very late for me.
I just pulled an OC video tape out of my VCR. Since it's season one episodes, and I've had the DVDs of that for over a year, that shows how much mileage I get out of the machine. And then I put a friend's tape in it, and it tore it. Suck.
Those VCRs get spitefull when you don't use them for a long time.
It is very late for you ita. Yay?
I think Catalina may have broken me sleep wise. I am already in bed, and planning on watching GA tomorrow morning, since obviously I will be up early enough.
I was able to catch up in Natter! I hardly remember how that feels like. What should I do now? Simply respond to the last post? Go all the way to the beginning of the page and, oh, what's the word, meara? Could it be? OK, let's see if I still know how to do this:
did we send you a snowglobe a couple of years ago?
Yup, you did! The Sommervillains sent me snow! There was a snowglobe, and also a couple of snow-men dolls and of jigsaw puzzles with snowy pictures on them. It was lovely.
I learned so much about myself when I locked horns with her, and she is such an intense and interesting person
Oh, I love the result of your story way better than I like mine. I still don't have a very good opinion on my former roommate, I'm afraid. Or, well, her able-to-communicate-with-me good qualities never managed to actually communicate.
Meanwhile just imagine Isaac as VERY BIG and VERY SMILEY now and that will be about right. And picture Frances as taller and with a honey colored, wavy haired bob
Done and done. But it's easier with Franny, because I'm just imagining an older version of the toddler I got to play with. Isaac in my mind looks way too much like my friend B's baby, since the description fits him, as well.
although I like to say, "You're just going to chew it!"
Oh, I like this version even better than my mom's. It makes the person who looks at the food part of it not being-pretty-anyway, as well. Perfect.
his whole family does Thansgiving. I have never known a Jewish person who didn't celebrate it
A former roommate whoimmigrated from the USA as a child, a practicing orthodox Jewish girl, used to celebrate Thanksgiving in Israel, with a group of immigrants-from-the-USA friends. She said it had nothing to do with religion, to her.
Jewish holidays are all about the family (and, well, the food). Even the ones that don't include a shabbat-like day, like Hanukkah, or the 'new' national ones, like the Day of Independence. If I ever plan to not be with my parents on any of them, I have to call and let them know for quite a while in advance, to get used to the idea. In some holidays, nobody even thinks that you wouldn't spend them with your family.
Alibelle called me on Wednesday to tell me that she got her driver's license!
Yay Alibelle!
Welcome home, all travelling Buffistas who were away for the holidays! May the return be safe and swift, and Monday not so-Monday-ish.
[Edit: I still know how to meara! It's like riding a bike, only I don't know how to ride a bike, so I have no idea what this comparison means! Oh, wait, I know: it's like 7²=49]
Hi Nilly!
I can't sleep. I'm watching a storm approach on radar. It just got close enough for me to see and hear thunder.
Maybe the rain will lull me to sleep.
Hi Nilly! I've been up for a few hours now trying to write an essay that's due this afternoon, but that I forgot to start before this morning. I've already had three cups of tea. I don't want to think about how many I'll have had by the time I get this finished.
