Giles, if you would like to get by in American society, then you are going to have to follow our traditions. You're the patriarch. You have to host the festivities, or it's all meaningless.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

And Perkins has now heard the "Roscoe's Rap" - which is one of the more enjoyable things I own on vinyl.

I did! And JZ pointed out that there was a chicken and waffle place in Oakland, and I just looked it up, and it is a Roscoe's. We need to go.

Thrive to spite them

Typo Boy -- It's an "I don't like feta" thing. I'm not really sure how I feel about goat cheese either, I haven't really eaten it much.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Just checked with HR on the number of vacation days I have left for the year. I thought I had 2. Turns out I have 5 1/2. Coolness! I also have 1 1/2 personal days. Woot!

Oh, I have tons of vacation left, and a floating holiday, but it's really mostly because I don't think I've submitted a time sheet in six months. Oops.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

I'm trying to find cheap tix to go home for my mom's 50th. I really wanted her to come here, but it looks like she's wiggled out of it.

But this means spending xmas alone, too. And that always makes me blue.

ETA: Which isn't a desperate request to spend an awkward holiday with anyone's family.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

Like on the 3rd?

Hmmm. That might be problematic - it's Em's birthday party. Maybe a dinnery thing? I'd suggest the 4th, but I know you teach that morning.

That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

MmmmmMMMMMMmmmm, goat cheese...

I second that. I love goat cheese. I had a wild mushroom and chevre omelet on Sunday that was really yummy.

It must be too soon for her to have a birthday party. You should check the calendar.

Early dinner on the 4th should work...
