Yes, it's terribly simple. The good guys are always stalwart and true, the bad guys are easily distinguished by their pointy horns or black hats, and, uh, we always defeat them and save the day. No one ever dies, and everybody lives happily ever after.

Can anyone explain why I fully blew off schoolwork ALL WEEKEND, and then got stressed out about it at 2 o'clock last night?

Um, because you're human?

Jessica, first, happy third-day-of-your-new-age! Second, how did you like GoF?

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

Thank you, all.

I will remember "Shana Tova" for next year, especially since your Yom Kippur posts were the inspiration for mine. Thank you.

juliana, did you see my edit? I can't spell Hebrew-in-English properly! It's "Shana Tova".

And thanks.

Heh! Corrected, and again, thanks. :)

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Um, because you're human?

Stupid humanity.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Happy Birthday, ChiKat!

Timelies all.

I skipped and skimmed like a rock thrown just right by Superman, so I hope all are doing spiffily. Also, I'm glad to hear the housing news, Kristin!

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Jessica, first, happy third-day-of-your-new-age! Second, how did you like GoF?

Thanks! And as for the second, I thought it was disappointing -- there was just too much material to get through that in order to make the film under 3 hours long (just barely!) they cut out everything except the major high points of the A-plot. There wasn't time for any character development, and the person I saw it with who hadn't read the books was *completely* lost.

Thanks, that was mainly what I was concerned about. I wonder what they will do with OotP, regarding length.

Both my mom and my brother read only up to the third book (um, the rest of us refuse to let the Hebrew translations anywhere in our line of vision, so they have to settle with the English originals, and obviously they read slower this way). I think my brother wouldn't want to see the movie before reading the book, but not my mom. So we'll probably have to do a LotR sort of "catch up".

[Edited because I just can't spell today]

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Why are there Mondays? Especially when I didn't have a Friday (supposed to be a paid holiday, but I worked) or a Saturday (worked again) and the Monday was supposed to be a vacation day (but, yep working again)?

At least Bauhaus was good last night, and the Pats won, and I finally handed off b-day presents to a friend (two months late).

Anyway, timelies and all your gronk belong to me.

I think OotP will be easier to adapt because even though it's so long, there are fewer Big!Major!Scenes! -- the problem with GoF is that the structure of the tournament means you HAVE to have a major action scene every 10 minutes. There's just no getting around it.
