Book: Yes, I'd forgotten you're moonlighting as a criminal mastermind now. Got your next heist planned? Simon: No. But I'm thinking about growing a big black mustache. I'm a traditionalist.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Was it just me, or did that not sound like Vartan's voice on the tapes?

Art Crawl!!!

It sounded like Vartan to me. . . perhaps I should rewatch.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

So, I have this group assignment due today, and as a "special prize" for the group that does the best job, the professor said he'd take them to dinner. One of my group-mates is all about winning, but honestly? The professor creeps me out a little, and I have no interest in going to dinner with him. Oy. I hate non-traditional rewards.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

At least it would be a group dinner and not one-to-one.

No way would I go if it were one-on-one. shudder

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I don't hang out in fanfic circles- are there a lot of guys as idiotic as this woman describes?

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I'm having a recently-picked locally-grown Baldwin apple for lunch, with an Iggy's French Roll as well. God, I'm going to miss the twice a week Farmer's Market in the Square.

I haven't run across them in fanfic (I'm only halfway into that loop anyway), but I've met some of that ilk at cons.

Sometimes, it's just a quasi-aggrieved joke, like, "Wow, [in this panel on female fantasy authors] I'm the only guy in the room! Guess I'm representing the other half of the species!"

(I heard something of this ilk at Noreascon 4; of course, I was also sitting next to a linebacker-size male physicist [orzelc on LJ, for those interested], who was honestly interested in the topic and as annoyed at the comment as I was.)

Lucy's a friend of mine. And yeah, we've been butting heads with this kind of idiocy in comics fandom quite often.

In fact, one person I knew from comics fandom had a meltdown in the comments thread, and now I know why I hadn't really got on with him these past few years.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

I heard back from boss (using cat excuse) and am off the hook! Now I get to worry about people talking about me all weekend long.... (yes I am self-centered, why do you ask?)

WRT to the male privilidge, I have not personally come across anything like that, but I am not in those circles. I did have a male friend who is very into video games tell me that a game with 20% sales to women would be considered a woman's game-- and then we are back to the thing where making something feminine makes it undesirable, while making it masculine can sometimes make it neutral.
