Willow: Something evil-crashed to earth in this. Then it broke out and slithered away to do badness. Giles: Well, in all fairness, we don't really know about the "slithered" part. Anya: No, no, I'm sure it frisked about like a fluffy lamb.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I don't know jack about the quality of the 50¢ movie, but I'm startled by the vitriol it's garnering. I can see being bothered by the posters, since they come into one's neighbourhood, but it seems to be bothering people by virtue of its very existence. Makes me wonder if activist groups have to make noise periodically so that people know they exist -- but I think they'd be better served not protesting the existence of fiction that doesn't live up to their standards, especially when it's based on the facts of the participants. Telling someone their life story isn't to be glamourised is a weird stance. Telling them it's glamourised badly --well, that's fair game.

Swouncing

The Canadians are sending the cold air, which is why theirs is warmer. All the cold particles (shh, don't confuse me with science) are sent to the USA.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

ita, I was looking at your tag again and thought about the 50 Cent movie offering. Wow, I have rarely seen such mean nasty reviews. Of course my kids want to see it, as if that were going to happen.

Huh. Ebert and Whosit gave it two thumbs up.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

All the cold particles (shh, don't confuse me with science) are sent to the USA.

So that's why Canada was building all those giant coldon particle emitters....

Always Anti-fascist!

I want to see it. But I think I just want "The Wire" back really really badly.

So that's why Canada was building all those giant coldon particle emitters....

Our wings are not tired.

Ebert and Whosit gave it two thumbs up.

Hadn't seen that. The reviews I have seen are various newspaper reviews. They often have negative reviews, but these were unusually mean.

Miami Herald - "50 Cent joins da club, but he's miles short" San Jose Mercury News - "50 Cent can't bring his story to life" Detroit Free Press - "Get rich a poor debut" Globe and Mail - "50 Cent flick not worth two bits" Seattle Times - "Legend of 50 Cent loses luster on big screen"

and so forth. Part of my deal with the kids is that I will read the reviews before I just say no to movies they want to see. Often the reviewers are uncomplementary, but this time I was surprised with how nasty they were. (It wasn't like they really had any chance of going, but I feel I have to back it up with reasons)

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

The Canadians are sending the cold air, which is why theirs is warmer. All the cold particles (shh, don't confuse me with science) are sent to the USA.

This is the only possible explanation.

We had crazy thunder and lightning last night when I should have been asleep, but now it's kind of nice out, if cloudy and windy.

Baltimore is living up (down?) to its reputation. The lastest crime wave? Streetlights are being stolen in broad daylight. Pole and all. 130 of them. [link]

The verdict on the new showerhead is that it spits. Replacing it tonight. It took me forever to get the shampoo out of my hair. A dollarstore squirt gun would be more effective. Shower was twice as long.

Our wings are not tired.

I have to snag a log in before I can read the article. We've been having light poles replaced all over town, perhaps the thieves are selling them to us.
