JZ, my first piece of advice would be to find out if in your case "adult acne" is code for rosacea. It usually is. If so, addressing the rosacea will address the acne. Once I switched over to sensitive skin cosmetics, moisturizers, and cleansers, the acne pretty much disappeared.

The nice lady at Fred Segal recommended this seaweed cleanser with a Romanian sounding name that I swear cleared up way most of my acne. It's now very much the exception. My skin feels vaguely adult for the first time ever.
It really does help, tho'.
