Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I had one of those mornings of abrupt awakening where I decide that if I don't check and see what time I woke up, I can pretend I slept until just before the alarm and am well rested.

This is of dubious use, since I've since then

    • been too nauseous to eat
    • spilt just bought (ergo still hot) chai latte in my lap and on my leather coat
    • there is no three -- who needs a fucking three?

I'm trying to schedule a maintenance visit (they want to replace some filters and whatnot) and no one at the fucking complex is answering. (and yes, I was trying well before noon.) I'm trying to recall if I've ever successfully contacted them by phone....

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

We had the "We think you're icky, so we don't want to give you any rights" proposition, a homeless shelter bond package, and a strong mayor inititive. And of course the "Should the counties of Whonow and Wherethefuckisthat incorporate the cities of LikeIgiveafuck and Sogladwegettovoteoneverygoddamnedamendment.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I got somewhere between 3 and 4 hours of sleep, maybe. A massive panic attack hit around 11 and listening to my heart trying to beat its way out of my chest was a bit of a snooze killer. Aftershocks woke me up again a 5. Thank goodness I don't get those too often. On the upside I was up and about with plenty of time for voting. On the downside I'll probably fall asleep at my desk in the next 4 seconds or so.

Up with the sun

We had the governor (go Tim Kaine), a bunch of unopposed local offices, and school board.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

We had a bunch of city council members running (only one of whom I'd heard of), a mayoral race, and a whole lot of bond measures.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

We had a bunch of local offices (including Mayor), and 4 propositions. The nice thing about voting early in the morning is you don't have to take any of the flyers being handed out on the subway -- "I already voted" will make them leave you alone.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

Weren't any of the candidates handing out doughnuts at the subway? Chicago politicos love to do that to "thank the voters".

As someone who hasn't ever voted -- you don't ever have to take them. Sometimes I lie, sometimes I tell the truth, sometimes I tell some of the truth, sometimes I say nothing.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)
