No one has been able to observe and record a wave because of the fractional changes involved. Even the violent disruption of a super-dense astronomical bodies, such as a black hole, is thought to produce ripples that are equivalent to the distance between the Earth and the Moon changing by one 100 billionth of the width of the thickest human hair.

OTOH, dogs can sense gravity waves.

(In case no one's noticed, I occasionally feel the need to make up scientific "facts.")

Sen. Barack Obama's debut on "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" has been foiled. The culprit: official Senate business. Obama was to appear on the program in New York on Monday. But spokesman Robert Gibbs said Sunday that Obama had to cancel so he could be in Washington to vote on a defense spending bill.
