I spent until 3 in the morning last night shopping for my family. This morning, I spent two hours I should have been studying for my final finishing my family shopping. Everyone else? Well, they'll just have to wait.

For a wieght difference that small, I'd risk it - I can't imagine they'll weigh him at the airport. Of course, that plan does have its risks - you'd need to make sure you went to the airport with someone you trusted to handle the situation. (Oh, or have a hard-body cat carrier in the car, so that you can go get it if they freak on you.) But it's like the health cert they always want you to have, dated within 10 days or something stupid. They make sure you have it, but never once have they actually looked at the thing.

Betsy! You are right. They are both crazy and wrong. But, being crazy, they will never admit to their wrong-and-craziness. You should walk away from them (slowly, never turning your back to them), and play here with people who admire and respect your clearly brilliant non-crazy self!
