Ann, that's a ferret.

Weather report from Western Fairfax County, VA: About 2 inches of snow with a thin icy overlay. Feds are excusing late arrivals of up to 2 hours.

Always Anti-fascist!

(showing hand for Angels In America) And to think I was ticked when it wasn't Sopranos/The Wire. I had never heard of it except a synopsis in the paper a few days before, but I was very impressed.

All is well that ends in pizza.

Clear Skies and 1˚F here.

Dusting of snow yesterday, on top of snow a few days ago that's not gone.

Minnesota in January, basically.

Where'd December go?

It's nice to see some brave pretenders trying to make it interesting.

I didn't measure, but I think, based on what I slogged through, we got about 8 inches or so. I only had 2 hours of work today, and one of the hours said she wasn't going to come in anyway, so all work was cancelled. I did clean off the car enough to prove I could probably get to the street without landlady having to snowblow the pea gravel driveway b/c asphalt driveways are too expensive to put in and snowblowers work SO well with the little gravel, but I'm now back in my room and thrilled to have the day off.

Sorry you got to work early, though.

Always Anti-fascist!

I don't know what the weather is doing right now, but y'all'd probably laugh...it's kind of cold for us, though. It's warm here, but not quite shorts-all-year-tropical...cold stuff comes down from the mountains sometimes.Hec, I just remembered: Tony Kushner likes The Wire enough that he gave The Truth Be Told, the Wire companion, a blurb. When HBO-verses collide...

Mostly lurking...

Oh. Dear.

I just got an e-mail from one of the students I'm tutoring. Her big final paper is due on Monday. She's only read 1.5 of the four articles she needs to talk about in her paper...and actually, she only has three articles. She hasn't found the fourth yet.

She better not think I'm writing this paper for her!!! She e-mailed me yesterday asking if I'd found the articles and read them yet. I was going to do that in preparation to help her, but now I'm not so sure I'm going to take the time. She needs to do this. And I know I need to help her, but...there is a limit.

Also, she asked me to call her on her cell phone to set up a meeting time, because she doesn't have "enternet."

Dear god, please help me.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Dear god, please help me.

You misspelled "her".

Art Crawl!!!

Oh dear.

Guess there's a reason that one needs a tutor. (Although she appears to not fully understand the tutor-tutee relationship.)

We didn't get as much snow as they did in town - or even in the 'burbs. But it is plenty cold here this morning. (6 degrees)

A friend of mine who lives and works in the western 'burbs (of Chicago) usually has a 25 minute commute. Last night it took her an hour and a half to get home - 18 minutes of which was trying to get out of her company's lot. 88 was at a standstill and the local roads were all jammed.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Yeah, my coworker's wife (hee, so funny to call her that, they just got married) kept calling in with updates and her trip must have taken at least two hours in total. I left before she got anywhere near, more than an hour later than usual.
