Don't you just love this party? Everything's so fancy, and there's some kind of hot cheese over there.

Spike's Bitches 27: I'm Embarrassed for Our Kind.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Now tagless for your comfort.

It took some effort on my part to limit my response to "No, I don't." instead of, "Listen golden boy, you are undoubtedly a legend in your own mind, but don't expect to coast through life on a little dab of native athletic ability and your long flowing locks. You ain't the second coming of Mickey Mantle by a longshot."

It's a hard line to walk to keep a kid's ego intact without dampening their enthusiasm.

To be fair, he really dealt with it well and faced down his fears and performed very well under a lot of pressure. For the tryouts you're out on a ball field with literally 14 coaches sitting there in lawn chairs, marking off your skill level from 1-9 in 12 different categories. It'd be intimidating for anybody.

My sibs and I participated in sports from an early age and I remember this stress and pressure. It's fun but it's also damn intimidating. Good for Emmett.

Also, in me-related news - I have now lost 18lb.

That's AWESOME, Fay!!!

I appear to have fallen tits over arse in crush with the bloke. That's okay, right?

Totally OK and sweet.

I am actually feeling better every day. Just some chest congestion that still needs to clear out really. And a little sinus stuff but mostly I am feeling much better.

I'm glad you're feeling better, Cass.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I've stopped going to Target since I found out about their "refuse and refer" policy towards birth control. I'm doubly pissed off about it since my local Target doesn't even have a pharmacy. And I fucking love those cheap boots.

Our wings are not tired.

Crap. I don't want to give up Target. It's my #1 choice for the kids clothes. I only go to Walmart if it is 3AM and I'm in urgent need of some odd thing because I hates them. I can't go to the mall because of my hatred of shopping in general. On line shopping suits me best, but some times I can't wait.

Yet I do believe in avoiding stores that have objectionable policies. Blah.

Mostly lurking...

It's snowing! It's so pretty! Toto had so much fun on our morning walk.

That disappointment me about Target. I'm not quite sure what to do about that.

I may be breaking my no Walmart policy, though, and ordering Toto's Christmas picture cards through them. They're $0.33 each! Which is much cheaper than anywhere else I've found on the web. Most places are $0.50-$0.60 each at the number I'm going to buy. I'm broke. I need to go with the cheapest route.

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

We have flurries here, and it's dusting things here and there.

ION, I just saw a Coca Cola commercial with the CGI polar bears. They encountered a group of penguins, and there was a touching bit with a baby polar bear and a baby penguin sharing a Coke.

Unfortunately, the commercial just didn't work for me because a) I couldn't get around the fact that polar bears and penguins live on opposite ends of the planet and b) if a family of polar bears did run across a colony of penguins, they'd be eating those suckers like popcorn.

I've been seeing that ad in theatres a lot, and I have to say, Teh Cute overwhelms Teh Illogic for me, even as the back of my brain is muttering "Capitalizing on March of the Penguins much?"

I broke my Wal-mart policy when they offered the Razr phone through Cingular for $68. It's a $200 phone that Christopher wanted for Christmas so I broke down and got it.

Oh dude, that is cheap! I went with Snapfish because they had a card I really liked, but I think I paid closer to .60 per card.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I have gone so far as to rationaize that the penguins are on vacation in the arctic when the polar bears come upon them. Because it is winter and the sky is dark, so not Antarctica.

"Things go better with Coke, but not penguins, don't eat them" - my imaginary slogan for the all important polar bear market segment.

I went to Wal-mart in September because they were the closest place to get my car fixed, but i haven't been back. I can't give up Target, though. I have a gift card. They'll just have to get better policies.
