Spike's Bitches 27: I'm Embarrassed for Our Kind.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Huh. Don't think I've ever heard of that. How much horseradish are we talking about?
Woohoo! Found out that while I was still at lunch, Big!Boss wandered through to let us leave at 2. I have done a bit of penance-time for accidentally taking a long lunch (reading deb's Famous Flower and got all caught up in the story and lost track of time), and now, exeunt.
Hec, juliana, I will continue to think violent thoughts in your craptastic bosses' directions.
Have a wondrous T-day, All!
Deviled eggs are evil.
Cranberry sauce (both kinds - the fresh and the rings) are mandatory for it to be Thanksgiving, as are mashed potatoes. And if it's on the plate, you can put gravy on it.
Oh, butter tarts. We always have to have those around x-mas or whenever someone comes back from Canada because my mom loved them. She's not even here anymore and somehow we still get them and then kind of hope a guest will eat them because none of us ever does.
I'm making a lemon-almond torte for dessert tomorrow, and maybe something else more seasonal.
Here's wishing a rousing case of salmonella on Hec's and Juliana's bosses.
I'm ambivalent on the subject of the cranberry.
I also hate that Hec's boss is such a raving lunatic cunt-pie ©Allyson

Whoa, there. This is too much. The cranberry-haters, while they are freaks and wrong... well, at least it's an ethos.

I know. I should choose a side dish. I love craisins and the juice but dislike the gelatinous canned stuff my mom used to put out at Thanksgiving. I suspect the only thing keeping me from true cranberry love is that I've never had them lovingly and properly prepared in a sauce.
I am making giblet gravy right now AIFG. It's a bit time consuming, though. I'm glad we thought to do as much of this stuff as possible today. The giblet gravy is brown.
There are no drippings in the gravy, because they will all be in the stuffing OMG YUM, we're butterflying the turkey over a pan of cornbread stuffing. I got this idea weeks ago from Jessica, and then found it in the OTC (One True Cookbook) as a high roast crisp skin butterfly badass bird. Thing.
I would have loved to cook a bunch more stuff but there will only be 4 of us at dinner and so I had to forcibly restrain myself. But even with 4 people, there are still two kinds of cranberry sauce. crazy cranberry haters! and the same to gravy haters! Next thing you'll tell me is that you hate beer and then I will cry before realzing that it just means more beer, gravy, and cranberrys for ME!
In spite of my wishy washiness about cranberries, I'll stand firm on the subject of gravy. I love it! It's good--no matter what the color or base.
Has Deena checked in? They're supposed to be getting A LOT of snow tonight and tomorrow. I hope everyone is snug up there.
