Every year, someone makes lovely cranberry relish from real berries, and it sits on the table all forlorn and Gourmet magazine-lovely....while we all devour the gelatinous canned mass that came out of the can in one wet plop, with the can ridges still clearly delineated.

DH prefers the gelatinous mass that comes from a can, but he doesn't eat enough of it. So we( meaning my sister and I ) get the homemade kind. this year is a simple orange /cranberry relish.

DH is a gravy missionary. My family didn't eat gravy - and my mom is from the south. Then we had his gravy. I had to convince my family to try it...the response was " oh... that's gravy!" and now he must make gravy. Now the test of thanksgiving is how many things can you put gravy on ...
