He certainly does sound incompetent, especially in today's climate.
I just called the Ohio Quit Line, talked to the counselor and will be receiving patches on or around the 9th of November, official quit date the 14th of November. Am a nervous wreck.

I might have stated this in LJ, but my BiL who's in high school was horsing around with a friend who accidentally broke his leg two years ago and his friend got suspended for three days--and the school paid ALL medical bills. So even if this were consensual horseplay (which it so obviously wasn't) there would still need to be repercussions.

I see this as bureaucratic CYA see-no-evil thinking. As long as you keep your distance, you aren't involved. The cliques will be cliques, there will always be a lower social strata, and bullying doesn't exist because it's just boys being boys and girls being girls.
Unfortunately, 15 high school kids in Littleton died because of that sort of stupid thinking.
I'm pretty laid back about things, but if Annabel gets bullied and the school has the same sort of lassiez-faire attitude they had when I was in school, I will find me some Scientology lawyers and sic them on the school and its administration. Because, you know, there's no better answer to evil than a greater evil, especially one that grabs onto its prey and will not let go.
