Argh. The Good is getting a steak dinner on the company. The bad is the not getting home until 11pm... (left work at 8pm, which wasn't fab either)
Money stuff in a relationship can get so weird, IMO. It's like we're all wired and raised differently and merging the financial lives can be the most stressful aspect of joining in a permanant relationship
My grandmother used to say "Everybody's weird. If you don't think they're weird, you just don't know them well enough". My father added "If you think you know them and they're still not weird, talk to them about money"
The BF and I have done a movie day for the last 12 years, where we schedule 3 or 4 movies and email all the orphans and non-celebrants we know the theaters and times and put a dinner break (at a Deli, which are always open on Christmas) in there
Heh. My sister and I have been doing this for years too, but it's more of a "we do our big Christmas dinner and Mass on Christmas Eve, and by god we're not *hanging out* with the family all day on Christmas Day with nothing to do!! Let's get the hell out of here!"
But mostly, I don't want to have to pretend to love it, or that it's more important than other things in my life.
Heh. I hear you. The amusing thing is, at my current job, my friends and such (who haven't seen me lately!) all think I've drunk the kool-aid, whereas to my coworkers, I'm the bitter cynical sarcastic one...
That is one of the few perks of being a contractor. No one expects me to make the company my life
Heh. We expect just as much of our contractors--after all, they at least get PAID for the overtime!
(EDIT: Apparently what I'm actually guilty of is saying "Heh" too often. Hmmmm....)
