Spike's Bitches 27: I'm Embarrassed for Our Kind.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Ann, that's a ferret.

Boss is demanding that I obtain information for this project that he (among others) is very interested in. Two other units, Unit A and Unit B, are involved. When I talked to Unit A (the lead, supposedly), they referred me to some documents that really weren't very helpful. So I called Unit B, where someone offered to help me. Until the head of Unit B e-mailed me to, in effect, ask me to stop bothering her people.

I DON'T CARE WHO GETS THE INFO! I JUST NEED THE INFO!

Luckily, boss found out about snafu. E-mailed Unit heads to point out that project can't move forward until info obtained.

Which might have resolved my headaches if Major Boss hadn't run through the halls at noon (almost exactly) yelling at us to evacuate and this was not a drill.

move out and draw fire

Weather. We're actually having some. The wind hitting the side of our house woke us up at 5:00 am, and then turned into a "dog-rolling wind," banging shutters and rearranging balcony furniture. Then the rain hit. Then the thunder and lightning. Then the power went out.

As a result, we had to walk to work, since without electricity we can't get the car out.

On the other hand, it meant that the number of people hucking molotov cocktails at my place of employment was somewhat reduced.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

Is it ususal, in a cover letter, to briefly say why you are looking to change positions?

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

What beth said, Aims. Also, it's handy for the kind of "I'm qualified even though I'm not coming from the same career path as the rest of the applicants" shifts -- so, "I've had a successful career as a cartoon supervillain, but the chance to put the same skills to work as a FOX executive is a long-time dream of mine".

But unless it adds something, all they really need to know at the cover letter stage is that you're hot for their job.
