I'm very tempted to change my tagline to Ane Badde Mooder-Swiver....

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Just talked to my mother. Their big concern has been the fact that there's a rule in the city that says if 50% or more of the house is damaged, the whole house has to be brought up to current code standards. My parents were looking at the possibility of having to raze the lower story, even the parts that survived the storm okay, like the exterior bricks, and rebuild it completely.

My dad went to the building permits office today, and it sounds like they're fine, due to the way the percentages are calculated. The foundation alone is 17%, and the entire upper story is fine, and the roof is fine, so they should be good, which is a big weight off their shoulders.

The other cool thing happening is that Glamour Magazine is having some sort of ceremony honoring women working for humanitarian causes, and they're flying my mother and 12 girls to New York, where the kids will be part of a backup choir for Mary J. Blige.

Art Crawl!!!

Glad that your parents don't have to raze the house!

And congratulations on your mother being honored.

Whoops, clarification. My mother is not actually being honored. Catherine Zeta Jones is being honored. My mother is getting a free trip and a donation for the chorus.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

How old are the kids?

I'm guessing they're probably not in the high-school age group, so probably 14 and under. But old enough to travel by themselves, with two chaperones.

Have a Brendarific Birthday!

I am off work today and tomorrow for the last of the Jewish high holidays...so I am in San Diego visiting Cass. We are about to go get food and look at the clouded leopards in the zoo.

You may commence with the jealousy.

ETA: Brenda, Cass says to add her happy birthdays to my post too.
