OKAY! Let's talk Dante now.

.....

Yeah, I got nuthin' either.

The Sawney Beanes! Why that deserved an exclamation point, I have no idea. Maybe just because I recognized what you were talking about. It's mythy and urban legendy, no? (ETA: Slow posting there, yes indeed)

ita, I actually spoiled myself for that tidbit before watching S3, and it in no way diminished my enjoyment of Season 3. I'm also frankly amazed at how well all the cast changes went. It was so smoothly interwoven and organic (which could also be a side effect of having watched all the eps in one week), and, well, Adam is hot and Zaf is a cutie. So .

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

Kat, that sounds like the same thing, although I can't find specific reference to it on HBO Films's site. I saw it a long time ago, probably while still in college, so it sounds like the right film.

HBO Films' Documentary unit seems to be ace. Unfortunately, they also do nothing but incredibly depressing topics. (The other HBO doc I saw, about the same time, was a "biography" of the Lodz ghetto, during WWII.)

No WAIT!

I bought three beautiful books by Sandow Birk channelling Doré in a great modern derivation of Dante.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Adam is a straight up hottie. Just beautiful. I need to find pictures.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

That Scottish story is so much more interesting as fiction than as truth.

Adam who?

Hey Burrell! how are you?! The room my Dante class is in doesn't have wireless, which is for the best because I should actually pay attention to what he's saying since reading Dante is like beating myself around the head with a board with nails protruding from it.

In grad school, Dante always came up, at least in certain classes. I mean, he wasn't the hoor that Melville was but still, came up way more than he should.

My problem is that my class is on Dante, so there is no escaping him. It could be worse. It could be Philosophy of Death.

This sounds like one of the punishments in Dante's Inferno, actually. Reserved for someone who needed an eternal cluesticking.
