"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

Why would that be mean, Gus? They acknowledge that it's a prime time soap.

In fact, that's what I like about it!

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

The last couple of GA's have left me thinking "Another prime-time soap."

The last couple? Didn't you watch any of the ones before?

Bag the crypto. Say what is on your mind.

In fact, that's what I like about it!

OK. Cool, even. I just got the impression somehow from the first season it was going some place specific. Now, not so much.

Our wings are not tired.

Not so much a meany. I watched GA once. Didn't do anything for me. Oh well.

Timely person that I am, today I watched VM 1.1 - 1.4 straight through. I kinda like it. I may watch a few more episodes through the week and somewhere around Thanksgiving I'll be up to speed.

Did bunches of decorating today. We always get many kids for treats and the neighbors do a several block party thing. A number of houses will not only have candy, but adult type treats and refills of glasses for the adults. I'm starting to think my neighbors might be party animals.

Seriously, this time of year it just starts being ok to be outside at night and people get all happy. (Right now at midnight it is 77 and we sat out to enjoy the full moon and cool temp, whee!)

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

GA is totally a soap, and is doing it really really well.

That's crazy about the White Sox.

brillig

Hubby's likes medical shows, so we're trying GA. We find it painful, and are hoping it stops being a soap opera. Any chances of that, or are we supposed to care that these folks keep having emotional meltdowns over patients?

Our wings are not tired.

Woo Hoo White Sox!

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

It's a soap opera on purpose, connie. I doubt it'll change. Of course, The OC used to be funny, so there's always a chance.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

No chance. It's a human drama that takes place in a hospital, not a medical show. It's General Hospital at night.

OK, here's a random question. The grad school people say we should have business cards for networking or some shit. Should I really? And should it actually say "Candidate for blah blah degree, expected May 2006"? That just seems so super dorky to me. Anyone have any experience with such things?

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

Stupid White Sox. How many home runs do they have to hit before somebody admits that "Ozzieball" is actually just good pitching and hitting? Bunting the runner over my flat white fanny.

On the upside for us eggheads, there is a good chance it will be a World Series of pitching duels, if the Astros clinch tomorrow. On the downside for everybody else, pitching duels are incredibly boring unless you are an egghead. Then again, Chicago in the World Series? There could be a riot. That would keep the TV ratings up.

Now the important question: who will be umpiring this event? And how big a police escort will they need?
