Katie Holmes has been in the business for nine years?

I think I'm offended at how little coverage of the earthquake I've heard/seen.
I'm offended at how little coverage of the mudslides in Mexico I've heard/seen.
Anyone familiar with the Las Vegas area? How far away is Henderson from the sights and smells of Vegas?
Her first listing was the Ice Storm, which was 8 years ago -- so, plausibly filming/auditioning/having representation for 9. And now I have to go wash off the ook of having IMDB'ed the Holmes...
Sort of like the year everybody in the computer industry started using the word "paradigm."
A couple of years ago, Ben's second grade teacher started using the word rubric. [link] The context in which she used it, it was intended to mean something akin to requirements. The dictionary definitions that come closest at dictionary.com are numbers 5 and 6, in the first given definition, but that's still not exactly it. She'd give a book report "rubric" that listed the elements required for the book report (i.e. name, date, intro, summary, rating, etc.), or a spelling sentences rubric (i.e. name; date; the title "Spelling Sentences"; a sentence that made clear the definition of the word; the word itself underlined). Now his fourth grade teacher is using it in the same way. It's not wrong, but it's not exactly apt, either. I don't know why they just don't call it "requirements". It must have been introduced at some continuing-ed, or credentials seminar.
I should not be awake, but I think I missed you people.
Heather, I was thinking about you yesterday, and stopped by your (seemingly abandoned) LJ, on the off chance you were using it.
Also, I think I may have to get a name change, because I don't want to talk about work stuff with my actual name up there.
How about Woman In Black? We, of course, would call you Wibble.
Damn. Is it OK for me to feel bad for Katie?
Yes. I feel the need to stage an intervention. Where the heck is Buffy. She should be all over this.
Oh. Very bad fic plot bunny! Make it stop. Thank goodness I'm such an accomplished procrastinator.
Oh duh, Heather. You can just use Stroppet.
Didn't get in to work until 9:50. I would have been late by all accounts, but then my express train went local, then it switched into a train that does not get me where I need to go, so I had to get off, wait for another train (another local), then there was congestion....ugh. Monday.
and now I can't seem to grasp what I am supposed to be doing. I need like a half day warm up before I am back into work mode.

Yes to both of these. I know we're dealing with our own natural disaster right now, but that doesn't mean the rest of the world just disappeared.
The cover of one of the NY papers (Post or Daily News) had "Osama's cave believed to have survived" as a sidebar on the front page.
Fire hits Wallace and Gromit sets.
Oh no!
Some play on characters or situations in the film Heathers, perhaps?
If Heather went by Veronica I'd giggle every time I saw it.

Um... how do they know?
Pro'lly they noticed that the Osama streaming video feed is still up....

Especially considering how they were so ready to go wall-to-wall with the London subway bomb stuff. I mean, this is tens of thousands of people dead, and by 20 past the hour, the news is already on jackass other stuff.
