I want to torture you. I used to love it, and it's been a long time. I mean, the last time I tortured someone, they didn't even have chainsaws.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Well, that's good news.

Also on the news this morning, it appears that Merck has developed a cervical cancer vaccine - 97% effective in trials. Should be available next year, they say.

Fuckinghell.

Someone blew away a directory on the main webserver with 8 YEARS worth of reports and files. Stuff we still use. Like yesterday. I have NO IDEA WHY.

Maybe they wanted us to transition to another location.

Would have been nice to have some warning, though.

And I can't work on other stuff because our main system is down for maintenance.

Going to be a long day.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

Hec, your pal Phil the Unabomber is the main story in the Living/Arts section of the Boston Globe today

Man, that is so cool. Also, from the article --

Laak was traveling in Europe with a friend when they decided they wanted jobs that were fun and profitable.

The friend was Gary, right? I *love* Gary and Phil stories!

I need to spork someone in the eye.

Bets on there being no backup?

Well, yeah.

Bets on there being no backup?

I'll bet three kittens and a Norwegian Forest cat that there is a backup that is a) 2 months out of date, and b) has a small, but terribly vital section that was totally corrupted in a recent power surge.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Man, that is so cool.

No kidding - I looked at the cover of the Globe and saw "unabomber" in the upper righthand corner, with a photo, and was like "Whooooaaaaa!!! Coool!!!"

I mean, I've never met Hec in person, but I feel like I've known him for years, so I was all "friend of a friend".

A month or two outdated would be BLISS. With one exception (a set of files kept current, so I can replace them easily) everything in there is a a month old or older. Losing one or two months would be virtually unnoticeable.

What is even happening?

Frank, I saw in the Lost thread, where you said it aired last night at 11:35. Are they re-running it over the weekend? I didn't see your note 'til this morning, so I didn't TiVo it, and in fact canceled my TiVo from recording it last night, because I wanted to record Veronica Mars, rather than bits of the game.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Jesse, can you give me an update on your findings? I'm in need of that knowledge.

Sadly, so far the medical stuff seems to be my forte. I think I'm going to sign up for a sleep study, now that the drug one is over.
