From Slate:
Already there are signs that the social conservatives may be more enthusiastic [about Miers nomination] than the reaction of professional inside-the-Beltway conservatives would lead you to expect. James Dobson, of Focus on the Family, has already moved to support Miers, a faster nod than he gave to Roberts. The evangelical community murmurs that Dobson based his endorsement on those who have known Miers for 25 years at the Valley View Christian Church in Dallas. Her fellow parishioners bore witness to her evangelical faith. Marvin Olasky, a key influence in shaping Bush's faith-based initiatives, reported a similar review of her personal devotion on his blog. The emerging message seems to be: She's one of us and she's with us on abortion.
I meant that the most likely answer would be in terms of (some number) times R. My irritation here arises from the fact that the theorem seems to be implying that you can find the length of the chord if you know the chord of an angle twice the size (that is, can find crd(x/2) if you know crd(x)), but then the formula requires you to know crd(180-x) which I don't. So Ptolemy can just go eat it.
At least I know how many walnuts the pretty girls stole.
Well, I guess gawker is right: two makes a trend these days. Or one, as the case may be. As far as Marvin Olasky goes, the excerpt implies that he's a supporter, but he's explicitly disclaimed an opinion. He has been reporting from people who knew her, like her pastor.
So, the neighbor kid from yesterday just knocked on my door again, with two other kids, and an orange cat. Which was not mine. Heh. The cat was in the stairwell, I guess, and the one kid thought it might be mine, due to me also having an orange cat. They also thought the cat was having kittens, but I don't know -- it didn't look pregnant to me. So it ran into my apartment and started hissing at my cat. Rude! Anyway, they all headed off again.
I do think it's nice to know the people in my building a little bit.
I just have that Owns Big Stacks of Manga street cred. Yeah. That's it.
And I'm not denying you that. You can have all the street cred you want. You can have big street cred cake-walk right through the middle of Tienamen Square and it won't make a lick of difference because we got the bombs, okay?!? Two words, nuclear-fucking-weapons!
Uh, wait, I totally lost my point somewhere in there. Nevermind.
(Also not remotely miffed, FTR.)
Speaking of orange cats -- I just caught sight of three of them having a conference on my street. Well, sitting a couple feet apart on the sidewalk, having a stareout. Cats is weird....
My poor cat was a little traumatised by all the commotion there for a minute, but of course now he's forgotten all about it.
The Mummy Returns is on tv. It's like a pretty-off. Sweet. Of course, now I'm never going to come up with a good question for class and will end up handing in something half-assed yet again.
So it ran into my apartment and started hissing at my cat. Rude! Anyway, they all headed off again.
With the cat, I hope? Note: if the visiting cat had fuzzy little balls under its tail? NOT PREGNANT.
I'm sure Homer is over it. Poor wussy behemoth.
It is nice to have neighbors, in the neighborly sense. I'm the catlady in mine, for sure, since pre-MK, Devi has a bout of running into the stairwell whenever I opened the door and now, well, MK tries to visit EVERYONE.
With the cat, I hope?
Yes. I would have helped them figure out what to do, but they were like, "OK! Bye!"
Note: if the visiting cat had fuzzy little balls under its tail? NOT PREGNANT.
Heh.
