Have you thought about your plan of action if you get Annabel tested and she's fine? (I assume you've thought about the alternative.)

Pretty much keep doing what I've been doing the past few days--keep interacting with Annabel, concentrating on talking to her, labeling things for her, and trying to hint at ways she could talk to us.

Not that I wasn't doing that stuff before the past few days, but now I'm being a lot more mindful about it. Also, between my busyness with the conference and all of Dylan's staying late at work over the reaccreditation, we've probably been less involved with her in the last month than normal. So I'm trying to make up for it a bit.

Okay, so our weather is kind of a pussy next to your weather.

I've been living in central NC for the past several years and trying to find a job somewhere closer to a major coast and further north.

I'm from here. I live one town north of where I grew up (about 10 miles north of Boston), so in some ways I'm not a good spokesmodel for the place. I suspect I'd still be in Alpena, MI, if I'd been born there. Our winters are a little better than Michigans and our summers are a little better than North Carolinas, and bother are shorter. If you're in Boston, you're on the coast. If you're in a surrounding town, you're 5-10 miles from the coast. North or south of the city, you're an hour or two away from the Cape and islands, and the beaches of southern Maine and southern New Hampshire, and only a couple of hours away from the White Mountain range, as well. Our Falls are wonderful (although this one has been a bit rainy of late).

There are a lot of colleges in and around Boston, so there's usually a lot to do. There are a lot of major hospitals which means you have easy access to healthcare (and they're decent places to work, as well). There's the theatre district. Our bars close on the early side for a major city (unless that has changed from the days when I used to go out). Public transpo isn't bad (it isn't great, though). You can live a few towns away and conceivably be on a busline, the subway line, and the commuter rail line.

I think Theodosia works for a publishing house, fwiw.

Indeed! I can walk, commuter rail, or bus to pretty much anywhere I want to go, and I live about 20 miles outside of Boston.

I was just talking about how happy I am that I don't have to drive anywhere anymore. It was a dream from my college days abroad, and it's finally come true. Though it's nice (I'm lucky) to have the car and driver option.

I like Boston. If you don't mind the weather, there are lots of opportunities for work and play here. Cost of living is pretty high though- until you know whatever salary you'll be making, rents will likely seem prohibitive.

Susan, I'm glad the doctor's appt went very well, the testing at the Children's Hospital sounds like a really good thing.

I got up early today so I put on make up for work. Everyone noticed. Even if they didn't know it was make up that made me look different they noticed. I got compliments and I may wear it on a more regular basis.

However, I have a question about eye shadow. I'm never sure which color to wear. Right now I have some plumy and pinky colors and a neutral. I'm sure there's something more flattering, but I'm not sure what it would be. Any suggestions of colors? I'm on a drugstore budget.

And in juliana!drama! news, I had an actor drop out of the show I'm directing in January (The Rainmaker, he was supposed to play Starbuck). I promptly offered it to a friend of ours, who also had to turn it down, so now I've offered it to Carl - the guy I dated when Z & I were splitsville. I asked Z if he was okay with it, and he says he is, but oh, there is potential!drama there. Mostly, right now, there is amusement at the incestuousness of theater.

He would be a really great Starbuck, though. All sorts of dreams and intensity.

Also? My sister and the manager of the local Gap put together an outfit for me for the rehearsal. It's informal-kinda casual-and I got it for less than $20 because I had a gift card. So...fruition.
