Spike's Bitches 26: Damn right I'm impure!
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Personally, Steph, I am using you as my doctor, and then when I go to a real one, I get to laugh and tell them "my other doctor SUCKS".
ION, I just got "caught" by my boss looking at my personal email. (2 seconds earlier, and it would have been LJ). Luckily she laughed and agreed that this place is deader than dead this week.
Nicole, insent a little while ago to your AOL account.
Cindy, I'm quickly learning this. Plus, only my second day on it and for some reason it's giving me nasty headaches. Ick.
Make sure you drink a lot of water with it. That probably has nothing to do with the headache, but still...
Scott's been going without cereal (he's very much a cereal for breakfast man) every morning, because you have to wait a few hours before and after taking it, to have dairy. He's got to be on it for three weeks at least, to treat the Lyme Disease infection. The other night, we got subs for supper. He got a Chicken Parmesean sub, and never thought about the cheese. When he went to get cookies and milk, and I said something about not wanting to have the dairy with it, because he would have to take his pill, soon. He said, "Oh, no. I took it right after supper."
I said, "And what'd you have for supper, again?"
We were on vacation (at the beach) when he first went on it, so we had to avoid the sun. Even putting SPF 45 on him, every hour or so, when we went to the beach, after 2:00pm, he got a little color. Then we were looking at the ingredients in the sunscreen, and wondering if the magnesium and salicylates in those were also going to cause an absorption problem. Ugh.
JSw, I have friends who just got back from Pennsic. Obviously, it's a HUGE event, and I also have no idea what group (clan? family?) they're a part of, but I think maybe my friends did something organize-y this year, like with the money/treasury. Maybe.
Cincinnati is the Barony of the Fenix (alarming I still know this stuff by heart when Ontario left the Midrealm 8 years ago), but your friends could be part of one of many different types of sub-organizations (SCA structure and culture is multi-faceted, for sure). Like you say, Tep, Pennsic is a big beast and volunteer work there is vital to the success of the event. Props to your friends for taking up some of that mantle.
It comes with a shiny coronet and you have to attend no additional meetings or take up any new responsibilities.
That is the best rank ever!! Shinies and no responsibilities. That rocks!
fall of Rome until 1600
I was wondering because I saw a lot of women sans corset. As a civil war reenactor, that sets me on my teeth. The women dressed as pre-1500-ish wouldn't wear one.
Make sure you drink a lot of water with it.
This. I hate this part. Why, you ask? Because I took a dose last night at 9pm and *then* remembered I had to drink a gallon (not really - but it feels like it) of water with it. Guess who was up peeing all night? You know you were curious about my evening activities.
Drugs are difficult.

Bwahahaha!

Yay! Mail! I'll go check for it.

Heh. Scott and I had an argument over how much water he was drinking. I think it's actually a kidney issue. He was drinking a glassful of whatever glass he first grabbed out of the cabinet, regardless of size.

Costuming standards and conventions are admittedly much less rigorous in the SCA than in the re-enactment groups. There isn't any rigour at all, really. However, there is social/peer pressure to learn about your chosen time period and make your gear more accurate over time. Having said that, the ladies who choose late period (by our standards) personas, tend to have really good clothing. On the overall subject of clothing accuracy at Pennsic, well, I saw a ninja in the marketplace. You tend to develop filters about these things. With no enforcement body in the organization, the general standard isn't very high, but that's not what the SCA is about. It is a big tent organization where people learn about and express their interest in the middle ages. You get everything from the astonishing to the miserable.
The APO mail finally went out today, after a week's delay. So those of you who I'm sending things to should get them soon.
Man, I remember when my period didn't hurt so much. Was this a necessary after-effect of pregnancy?
I think we need to tell Jilli to skip like a little girl and not start the thread at the beginning.
Too late!

Plei, I am so sorry. I'll double-check with Pete to see if he'll be up for emergency spider removal in the future.
You should let Lillybean see the spider but not your fear, so maybe she grows up into an additional arachno-remover for you. Which'll work out well when Jilli babysits her.
This is a good plan. I like this plan.
STILL no word from an HR rep about my interview from last week. I keep telling myself that here at the Evil Empire, no news is a good sign, but I'm going quietly mad.
