Dear Professor,

I am truly sorry I was unable to attend class. I am currently dealing with a medical emergency, and will be in touch to discuss my options with regard to the class as soon as possible.

Thank you for your understanding in this matter, vw, the bug that can and does

He knows nothing about the situation. And I wasn't going to tell him until I decided whether or not I was styaing in the class. My therapist and I are talking about that tomorrow morning. Which, is why this was going to wait till tomorrow.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

VW, Sparky's note looks good.

Yeah, I like that. I think I'll send him that, and that way I can still deal with it tomorrow.

Punishingly Intricate

VW, Sparky's note looks good.

If I was a professor it would work for me I think.

You just remember that getting yourself taken care of is more important than trying to manage any anger he might have.

You could also add a line acknowledging your mistake in not calling the office without going into any more of an explanation about why you didn't call.

What is even happening?

Ok...it's bad. He's upset...rightfully so. I just...I just couldn't deal with it then. It was too big.
Okay, what you posted of what he said later on, doesn't read as upset to me as it probably reads to you. He's letting you know the expectations. That's fair enough.
I feel like I need to respond, and soon. But, I wasn't going to deal with this till tomorrow. I don't know what to do.

What will make you feel better? Here are some of what I can see for your choices:

  • You can wait until tomorrow. This only works if you can put it out of your head until then.

  • You can send a short note saying something along the lines of:
I was absent due to illness. I'm still working on it with my healthcare provider. I am sorry I let you down. Thank you for clarifying your expectations. I hope to address this with you further, when I'm feeling better.

  • You can send a longer note, and tell him whatever you think he needs to know (I wouldn't opt for this right now, because you're still getting yourself back on track right now)

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

Ditto on Sparky's note. Everyone makes mistakes. Not everyone tries to make it right and since you will, he'll forgive and move on.

Thank you for the link, Plei!!! I haven't been to LUSH in a while.

I'm holding my co-workers adorable black chihuahua mix in my lap right now AIFG!

Ok...e-mail sent. I'll see if I hear anything back. Otherwise, I'll send him something more tomorrow, after I've talked with my therapist.
