OK, the Martha movie? if she's supposed to seem evil and awful they're doing a piss-poor job

Well, I finally got an email. Unfortunately it was just to tell me that she had a Discover card sent in the mail activated. Even though every member of the household including the parakeet gets credit cards in the mail. And even though I never mentioned getting a new credit card, let alone a Discover card which I doubt they even accept down here.

But, well, I've got something else to obsess about now, since I'm planning, or trying to plan, a birthday party for Almanzo on October 1.

I am up and wide awake at an insane time of the morning. Again. This morning? I can thank my period and its containment issues. I swear, if we don't put me on the pill when I see the GYN this week, I'm gonna go NUTS!

I had one gyn who was dithering about continuing to prescribe me the pill after the first three months. So while I was waiting in the exam room, I filled my file with every loose scrap of paper in the office in which I'd scrawled, "I need PILLS!" She transferred me over to a guy who wrote out a two year prescription. (One of the reasons I actually prefer male gyn's is because they're easier to scare.)

Bwah!

I don't think it's going to be a problem. I've got an acne issue, the weird periods that come and go as they please, and killer cramps (the last couple of times). If she doesn't prescribe them, I may go back to my PCP and beg her, 'cause we've talked about it as a good thing to try, but she wanted me to see the GYN first.

But, well, I've got something else to obsess about now, since I'm planning, or trying to plan, a birthday party for Almanzo on October 1.

Sadly, I'll be in Brisbane that weekend, gettin' my geek on. But, happy birthday to Almanzo and all that.

In the spirit of R A N D O M, I was at a friend's house the other day. She had a birth announcement on her fridge. Her friends had had a little girl. I notice the baby's name is something like Sunna Ólafsdóttir. So, I asked my friend, "Is that literally Olaf's daughter?"

She said it was. Her friends are in the States, but are from Iceland, and plan to return there to settle, long term. My friend said the naming convention there apparently is still Given Name + [Dad's Given Name + Son/Dottir]. So, right now, nobody in the family has the same name. The wife's last name is her dad's name + dottir. The husband's last name is his dad's name + son. They have a son, and his last name is Olafsson. The little girl's name is Olafsdottir.

Very cool. And I'm just in love with 'dottir'.

How long is your assignment there anyhow, do you know?

3 years, so Two To Go, as they say. The first 6 months of this year took FOREVER, and the last 6 months took about a week. I think Mallory might've had something to do with that.

I was reading an article on the human genome that said Icelanders have approximately the same genetic diversity as the cheetah population, which is to say, not much. As a result they are more susceptible to things like osteoporosis. (Just continuing Free Association Day in Bitches).

Also, I met a woman named Kalliope yesterday. Cool name. I've met several Kalypsos, also a cool name.
